About Wittedrift Manor
You know when you travel to a different country for a celebratory event and dream about never go home again? Well that’s exactly what happened when Irishman PJ Daly and his wife visited Tulbagh in 2002. He says that the amazing Tulbagh wine, friendly people and picturesque town was just too enchanting to leave. PJ has an impressive background in four star hotels and extends this wealth of knowledge to Wittedrift Manor.
Should he be around during your stay, PJ will happily take you on a short hike in the area, and introduce you to the reason why he never left.
The story behind the art and beautiful restoration of the manor house is one that will extend late into the night, around the kitchen table, with some fine Tulbagh wine and delicious food.
There is something truly magical about this little town. Nestled at the foot of no less than three mountain ranges, it’s beauty alone will leave you breathless. Enjoy award winning wines, fine dining and warm hospitality. It’s the perfect year round destination and definitely has something for everyone to enjoy.
Tulbagh is the 4th oldest town in South Africa dating back to the early 1700s. It is just 90 minutes drive from Cape Town. Church Street boasts the largest number of Cape Dutch, Edwardian and Victorian provincial heritage sites in one street in South Africa.
Tulbagh survived a devastating earthquake in 1969 but today you can take a walk down church street and admire the beautifully restored buildings, or pop into the museum to find out more.
